Presentation
Painful right postauricular swelling with fever. A surgical drain was inserted and a CT was requested.
Patient Data
Partial opacification of the right mastoid air cells with cortical destruction of the posterior mastoid wall in continuity with a retroauricular fluid collection containing air-bubbles with peripheral enhancement. No subdural empyema. The cerebral venous sinuses are patent. A surgical drain is noted within the collection.
Signs of a right chronic otitis media
Peripheral mucosal thickening of both maxillary sinuses with partial filling of the ethmoid air cells (chronic sinusitis).
Case Discussion
