Pancreatitis and collection

Case Discussion

Calcification of the pancreas indicated chronic pancreatitis.  In addition, marked peripancreatic inflammatory change with fluid extending into the small bowel mesentry, transverse mesocolon and down into the pelvis. Some areas of focal reduced enhancement.

Formation of a peripancreatic collection that will likely develop into a fluid-based collection that can be percutaneously drained, but which would not be suitable for drainage in the acute setting.

Features of acute on chronic pancreatitis with inflammatory change and peripancreatic collection formation.

Chronic left sided hydronephrosis with renal cortical thinning.
