Presentation

Acute severe abdominal and flank pain with suspicion of renal colic.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
ct

CT shows swelling of the pancreatic body and tail associated with peripancreatic inflammatory fat stranding and low attenuation inflammatory exudate surrounding the pancreas and extending into the duodenal portions, left paracolic gutter, and pelvic cavity.

Left-sided pleural effusion is noted.

Hyperdense stone measuring about 8 mm within the lower pole of left kidney.

A small umbilical hernia containing omental fat is seen.

Case Discussion

Imaging features are compatible with acute pancreatitis. Amylase and lipase were checked for the patient and show significant elevation.
