Acute partial tear of 4th extensor tendon

Intrasubstance abnormally increased fluid signal and fiber discontinuity present along course of 4th finger extensor tendon central slip near insertion site onto base of middle phalanx, suggestive of partial tear.
Lateral slips of common extensor tendon, converging to form the common terminal tendon with insertion site on the distal phalanx, are intact.
Mild joint effusion also seen at PIP joint.
Bone marrow edema (bone bruise) also noted at base of middle phalanx.
