Acute subdural hemorrhage

Presentation

Struck head two days ago with increasing headache and visual disturbance.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Unenhanced CT head reveals a crescentic hyperdense extraaxial collection spread diffusely over the left hemisphere extending down to the left temporal lobe in keeping with a moderate size acute left subdural hemorrhage. There is associated effacement of sulci and mass effect of the left lateral ventricle resulting in minimal (2 mm) rightward midline shift. 

The CSF containing spaces are normal without any evidence of hydrocephalus. Subtle non displaced cranial bone fracture (yellow arrow) overlying the subdural hemorrhage is demonstrated on the bone windows.
