Acute superior mesenteric artery occlusion: on ultrasound
Acute onset of abdominal pain - about 8 hrs. C/o vomiting. O/e - Soft abdomen. Poor response to analgesics.

Proximal part of the superior mesenteric artery ( about 4 cm length ) from its origin shows echogenic lumen without flow.
Single dilated small bowel loop without wall odema is noted on right side.
Caeliac trunk, abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava, superior mesenteric vein are patent.
Findings of acute superior mesenteric arterial occlusion.
