Acute superior mesenteric vein thrombosis

C/o vomiting - 8 - 9 days back. Followed by fever - for 5 - 6 days. C/o abdominal pain - 1 day.

Patient Data

Age: 25 yrs
Gender: Male

Echogenic material is noted in distal superior mesenteric vein and proximal portal vein.

SMV is completely occluded.

Portal vein is partly occluded.

Splenic vein - patent.

Superior mesenteric artery  - patent.

No dilated bowel / odematous bowel wall / ascites.

Case Discussion

Findings favor actue superior mesenteric venous thrombous.
