Presentation
The only complaint was headache. Neurological examination including fundoscopy was normal.
Patient Data
There is hydrocephalus with transependymal CSF transition in cerebral parenchyma adjacent to both lateral ventricles. There is a suprasellar mass with small solid and larger cystic components. The solid component shows heterogeneous contrast enhancement in the left lateral wall adjacent to the defined cystic lesion. The most likely diagnosis was felt to be a craniopharyngioma.
Case Discussion
The patient was operated shortly after the examination confirming the diagnosis of craniopharyngioma and returned to daily life without sequelae.
Editors note: Unfortunately additional diagnostic information is not available and it is uncertain whether this represents an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma or papillary craniopharyngioma. Given baseline frequency in this age group and the dominant cystic component with intermediate-high T1 signal this most likely represents an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma.
