MRI brain

mri

Selected images from an MRI. Centered  in the suprasellar cistern extending up into the third ventricle and down into the pituitary fossa is a mass with multiple cystic components of varying T1W intensity. They are high signal on T2W and the walls as well as a solid component inferiorly demonstrate enhancement.

A right occipitoparietal VP shunt is partially seen.

Case Discussion

Histology confirmed a craniopharyngioma.

Editors note:

Unfortunately, additional diagnostic information is not available and it is uncertain whether this represents an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma or papillary craniopharyngioma. Given baseline frequency and the dominant cystic component with intermediate-high T1 signal this most likely represents an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma
