Adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma

- large and predominately cystic density lesion centered within the suprasellar region with peripheral stippled calcifications
- mass effect and effacement of the adjacent 3rd ventricle with associated mild dilatation of the lateral ventricle temporal horns but without gross obstructive hydrocephalus. Partial effacement of the circle of Willis vessels demonstrated on this non-contrast study
- The sella and the pituitary are normal
Case Discussion
Typical CT features of an adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma. Whilst these tumors are most common in children (this patient is 65) as compared with the papillary type, it must be remembered that adamantinomatous craniopharyngiomas are more common at all ages.
