Adenocarcinoma of appendix

Right iliac fossa pain. Possible clinical diagnosis of acute appendicitis.

Modality: CT

CT images show a large distended appendix with thickened and enhanced walls associated with surrounding inflammatory changes. 

Case Discussion

Patient underwent to surgery. Anatomopathological diagnosis confirmed a appendix neoplasm: Adenocarcinoma, which is a rare form of colonic tumour that constitutes less than 0.5% of all gastrointestinal neoplasms.
