Adenocarcinoma of the lung with chest wall invasion

Passive smoker presented with a history of intractable back pain not responding to conservative therapy.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

A large, well-defined peripheral lung mass in the left lower lobe causing destruction of the adjacent ribs as well as extension into the soft tissues of the chest wall. A low-attenuating lesion is also seen in the right adrenal gland, likely representing a metastasis from lung carcinoma.

Case Discussion

Biopsy performed under ultrasound guidance.

Histopathology confirmed adenocarcinoma of the lung.
