Presentation
Left side orbital pain and proptosis.
Patient Data
Well-defined solid mass lesion with axial dimensions up to 25 x 15 mm and height up to 15 mm in left lacrimal gland orbital segment with erosion of adjacent cortical bone. The mass is partially encased related to the uveo-scleral layer of the eye and has led to proptosis. The medial margin of the mass has displaced and partially encased the superior rectus muscle-levator palpebrae superioris muscle complex.
Empty sella is also noted.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates non-contrast MDCT features of pathology-proven adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lacrimal gland. The main treatment is surgical excision but the tumor has relatively high recurrence rates and poor outcomes 1.
