There is marked enlargement of the adenoids on this lateral film with resultant narrowing of the posterior nasopharynx.
Case Discussion
Obstructive sleep apnea has a wide variety of causes. In children, adenoidal hypertrophy can cause complete or partial obstruction of the posterior nasopharynx and result in obstructive symptoms, sleep disturbance, learning difficulties and generalized tiredness and lethargy.
