Adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder

Notice the classic echogenic V-shaped "comet-tail" reverberation artifact emanating into the gallbladder lumen.  These lesions are often diagnosed incidentally in the 5th decade, and represent benign cholesterol deposits within Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses.

Case Discussion

Adenomyomatosis is a common incidental finding in abdominal sonography. It is not associated with pain.
