Presentation
Incidental finding of a right adrenal mass on an ultrasound done for right upper abdominal with hepatomegaly.
Patient Data
Hepatomegaly (21 cm) with diffuse hepatic steatosis (mean attenuation = 24 HU), 20 HU less than that of spleen (mean attenuation = 44 HU) in keeping with diffuse hepatic steatosis.
Small well-defined ovoid homogeneous mass (measuring 28 x 25 x 23 mm) of the right adrenal gland with a mean attenuation = - 11 HU, in keeping with an adrenal adenoma (incidental finding).
Annotated images showing the mean attenuation of
- adrenal mass = -11HU
- liver = 24 HU
- spleen = 44 HU
Case Discussion
CT features of a right adrenal adenoma in a patient with diffuse hepatic steatosis.
On non-contrast CT, a small round, or ovoid homogeneous adrenal lesion with an attenuation <0 HU is considered 100% specific for adrenal adenoma.
