Presentation

Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
ct

A 30 mm mass is noted at the right adrenal gland. Its mean attenuation value on non contrast images and post contrast early, PVP, and delayed images measured 27HU, 163HU, 127HU, and 65HU, respectively (absolute washout = 62%), consistent with benign adenoma.

Case Discussion

The contrast washout rate can be calculated for lipid-poor adrenal lesions on pre and post contrast CT images. Adenomas typically have rapid contrast washout, whereas non-adenomas tend to wash out more slowly.
