Adrenal adenoma

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis almost certain

Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

CT demonstrates a small right sided adrenal mass tucked in between the IVC, kidney, liver and vertebral column. It is well circumscribed and of low density on pre-contrast imaging (6 HU). Following administration of contrast, it enhances to a maximum of 60 HU during portal venous phase, and then washes out to 27 HU on delayed imaging.

MRI confirms the abnormality and also confirms signal drop out on out of phase T1 imaging.

Case Discussion

Features are characteristic of an adrenal adenoma on both CT and MRI.
