Adrenal adenoma: chemical shift imaging

Incidentally detected adrenal lesion on sonography. Patient was evaluated by sonography for irregular menses.

Patient Data

Gender: Female

The signal drop in the out of phase imaging within the adrenal lesion signifies presence of intracellular fat.

Case Discussion

Adrenal adenomas are the commonest primary adrenal lesion. Contrast multiphasic CT (adrenal protocol) and chemical shift MRI imaging have sensitivity and specificity for identifying adrenal adenomas.
