Adrenal myelolipoma

Case contributed by Maulik S Patel
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Vague abdominal discomfort for the last few days.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

A right supra-renal solid mass lesion separate from the liver and right kidney; measuring 113 x 109 x 62 mm. Heterogeneous echogenic lesion without cystic changes/ vascularity.

Normal liver, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, urinary bladder, and prostate without mass lesion. No ascites/ abdominal lymphadenopathy. No mass lesion in the left suprarenal region.

Case Discussion

An incidental finding of a right suprarenal echogenic mass lesion on ultrasound raised the possibility of adrenal myelolipoma. Later, CT scan findings were similar. A right adrenalectomy was done. Histopathology was myelolipoma.
