Advanced haemophilic arthropathy - elbow

Known patient with haemophilia developed recurrent elbow pain.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male

There is moderate joint loss, variable degrees of cartilage loss and subarticular cysts seen at capitulum, radial head and olecranon process. The synovial lining show hypointense signal on T2 likely from haemosiderin deposition.

Case Discussion

Recurrent bleeding within the elbow joint results in synovial thickening, cartilage erosion, subarticular cysts and haemosiderin deposition.
