Agenesis of the corpus callosum

Incidental congenital abnormality identified on a patient undergoing CT head for a new onset left hemiparesis.

Patient Data

Age: 49
Gender: Male

The lateral ventricles are widely spaced and the third ventricle sited highly.

The 'racing car'appearance of the ventricles is present.

The corpus callsoum is absent.

Case Discussion

Features of agenesis of the corpus callosum include:

  • racing car appearance of ventricles
  • Viking's helmet/moosehead appearance of ventricles
  • widely spaced lateral ventricles
  • high riding 3rd ventricle
