Ameloblastoma

Presentation

Large left sided facial mass. Longstanding, but enlarging.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
ct

Huge lucent cystic mass with cortical thinning and destruction in the left mandibular body extending into the condyle.  It has a 'soap-bubble' appearance.

No midline extension.

No associated dentition (i.e. it is non-dentigerous in nature).

Case Discussion

Huge non-dentigerous cyst with extension bony destruction.   The patient defaulted for several years after prior presentation. 

Surgical biopsy was undertake: -  pleixiform ameloblastoma.

Ameloblastomas are locally aggressive, but benign, tumours that classically arise from the mandible, as is demonstrated in this case.
