Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

CECT (Triple phase) Abdomen

ct

There is a large well defined lobulated peripherally enhancing liver abscess in the left lobe of the liver. Another small similar lesion in segment VI of the liver.

Mild diffuse circumferential submucosal edema in the cecum and adjacent proximal ascending colon with mucosal hyperenhancement and mild surrounding fat stranding, suggestive of colitis.

Trace bilateral pleural effusion and pericardial effusion.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound-guided liver abscess aspiration was done and pus appeared with anchovy sauce in appearance. The serology for antiamebic antibody was positive in this patient.

So the overall case is amoebic colitis with the complications of large liver abscess.
