Case Discussion
Carcinoma of the papilla of Vater is an uncommon tumor accounting for about 1% of all adenocarcinomas and approximately for 5% of gastrointestinal tract carcinomas 1.
Ampullary carcinomas can be either sporadic or may be part of several inherited cancer syndromes where they may associate with colorectal cancer.
There is evidence that sporadic ampullary carcinomas may also associate either synchronously or metachronously with other malignancies such as sporadic colorectal carcinomas 1.
Endoscopic biopsy of this lesion showed adenocarcinoma.
