Presentation

Obstructive jaundice.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

Dilatation of the intra-and extrahepatic biliary ducts as well as the pancreatic duct "Double duct sign" with a small ovoid heterogeneously enhancing mass bulging within the lumen of the 2nd duodenum at the expected level of the ampulla of Vater. A small simple hepatic cyst is noted in segment 8.

Small cortical renal cysts with right renal stone are noted.

Case Discussion

CT features of a hetrogeneously enhancing mass bulging within the lumen of the 2nd duodenum with a "double duct sign" suggestive of an ampullary tumor.

Ampullary tumor arise from the glandular epithelium of the ampulla of Vater. It may be either benign (adenoma) or malignant (carcinoma).
