Recurrent right inguinal hernia. Enlarged appendix measuring about 16 mm in diameter with marked peri-appendiceal fat stranding, denoting acute appendicitis, is seen within this hernia. Evidence of bilateral varicocele embolization is noted.
Case Discussion
Recurrent right inguinal hernia containing enlarged/inflamed appendix; these features are consistent with Amyand hernia.
Following CT scan, the patient underwent an uneventful appendectomy and inguinal hernia repair.
