Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad

Work up for epigastric pain. Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Common hepatic and splenic arteries directly originate from the aorta as a normal variant.

A 7 mm small cyst is noted in the 8th hepatic segment.

Case Discussion

Classic branching of the celiac artery is seen in approximately 70%, and as an anatomical variation, any of the three celiac branches may arise independently from the aorta or SMA, or the celiac artery may give rise to other branches.
