Desiccated L5/S1 intervertebral disc with a region of high T2 signal in the posterior disc in keeping with a transverse annular fissure.

Case Discussion

Annular fissures are a degenerative deficiency of one or more layers that make up the annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc. They may be painful or asymptomatic.
