Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral atlantal epitransverse process, the left one articulating with an occipital paracondylar process. Additional bilateral occipital process posterior to the origin of the paracondylar process with a posteromedial course; the left one "articulates" with an occipital protuberance (occipito-occipital articulation?), thus forming an open ring, and the right one is discontinuous due to a prominent emissary vein. Additional articulation on the left between the aforementioned occipital protuberance and a lateral extension of the superior atlantal facet.
