Case contributed by Maulik S Patel
Diagnosis almost certain

LSCS (lower segment cesarean section) 4 months ago. Complains of lower abdominal wall pain for 2 months. On examination - possibility of a deep-seated abscess.

Patient Data

A collection with mobile echoes and an irregular thick wall is noted in the subcutaneous fat of the infra-umbilical anterior abdominal wall, approximately 3 cm cranial to the LSCS scar.

  • cranio-caudal: 33 mm

  • transverse: 39 mm

  • anteroposterior: 15 mm

It is located in the midline and right paramedian position, abutting the anterior surface of the rectus.

A curved tract (3 mm) is observed from the collection, passing in the midline and going deep to the right rectus, for a length of about 20 mm.

No other anterior abdominal wall collection is noted.
