Presentation

Recent surgery for cervical disc disease.

Patient Data

Age: Adult

Lateral x-ray obtained in the post-operative period (note the presence of pre-vertebral soft tissue swelling) demonstrates a C5/6 ACDF.  

One month post op there is early subsidence of the spacer into C6 vertebral endplate. 

10 months post-op

10 months following the ACDF the spacer has gradually sunk into the superior endplate of C6.

Case Discussion

This patient underwent an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with disc spacer. Over the course of 10 months significant subsidence develops, with the spacer gradually sinking into the superior endplate of C6.
