MRI sequences showing the complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament associated with joint effusion, bone marrow edema in the dorsal tibial plateau and lateral femoral condyle, as well as local subcutaneous edema. There is also a cortical disruption on the posterolateral aspect of the tibial plateau which is in keeping with a Segond fracture.
This case illustrates a common knee injury observed in soccer players. The Segond fracture and the bone contusion are features usually associated with the ACL tear.
