Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Thickening of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is seen associated with increased signal of its fibers. Note the presence of cysts within its proximal portion.

Case Discussion

Mucoid degeneration of the ACL, along with tears and anterior cruciate ligament ganglion cysts, is a relatively common cause of increased signal within the ACL.
