Acute avulsion fracture of the right anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS) is seen, with no significant displacement.
Case Discussion
This case shows an avulsion fracture of the anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS) where the direct/straight head of the rectus femoris muscle is originating from 1. Sudden forceful muscle contraction in children and adolescent age groups usually results in avulsion injury of the physis; which is the weakest point. Whereas in adult, failure usually involves the myotendinous junction 2.
