Presentation
Abnormal head shape.
Patient Data

Axial and 3D reconstructions of the CT scan head show premature closure of unilateral (right side) coronal suture, head deformity and copper-beaten skull appearance. Radiological feature in favour of craniosynostosis with anterior plagiocephaly.
Case Discussion
Anterior plagiocephaly due to the early unilateral fusion of the coronal suture is associated with a clinical phenotype characterised by the unilateral flattening of the frontal bone and the orbit and by the distortion and maldevelopment of adjacent cranial and facial bones.
Ages of normal sutural/fontanelle closure
metopic: 3-9 months
anterior fontanelle: 18-24 months
sphenosquamosal: 6-10 years
sphenofrontal: approximately 15 years
occipitomastoid: approximately 16 years
sagittal: approximately 22 years
coronal: approximately 24 years
lambdoid: approximately 26 years
squamosal: approximately 60 years
