Preliminary images are unremarkable.
The fluoroscopic images taken upon bearing up and bearing down demonstrate marked elevation and descent of the ano-rectal junction on bearing up and down, respectively.
The fluoroscopic images taken upon defecation demonstrate:
- moderate to large degree of protrusion of the anterior rectal wall (anterior rectocoele) that incompletely empties during defecation but is not obstructive
- recto-anal intussusception (internal prolapse) with the rectum protruding to the anal verge
- rectal descent to the anal canal, but no external prolapse
There is a small amount of contrast remaining in the rectum post evacuation.
