Anterior talofibular ligament tear
Presentation
Ankle twist - 6 wks back. C/o pain, swelling lateral ankle region.
Patient Data

Anterior talo-fibular ligament - not visualized - complete tear
Anterior tibio - fibular ligament - Intact, normal.
Calcano-fibular ligament - thick, hypoechoic.
Peroneal tendons - Intact.- Normal echopattern.
There is ankle joint effusion. Fluid in region of talofibular ligament is seen extending upto subcutaneous plane in antero-lateral ankle region.
Case Discussion
There is complete tear of anterior talofibular ligament with tear of overlying joint capsule suggested by joint fluid extension to subcutaneous plane. There is calcano-fibular ligament sprain.
