Case contributed by Assoc Prof Frank Gaillard

Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

In the left anterior temporal pole is a subcortical cyst with associated high T2 signal in the surrounding white matter. A branch of the middle cerebral artery 'knuckles' into the cortex immediately adjacent to the cyst. Features are characteristic of an anterior temporal lobe perivascular cyst

Case Discussion

This is a very characteristic appearance and must not be mistaken for a more sinister pathology (e.g. cystic neoplasm).
