Patient Data
A T1 and T2 hypointense band of tissue extends from the medial aspect of the anterior horn of the medial meniscus, along the orientation of the anterior cruciate ligament, to the posteromedial aspect of the lateral femoral condyle (posterolateral wall of the intercondylar notch).
There is a focal area of full-thickness chondrosis along the median patellar ridge with a mild amount of subjacent marrow edema.
Case Discussion
An anteromedial meniscofemoral ligament of the medial meniscus is a rare variant of the knee (~0.4%)1, with scant reports in the literature. Occasionally, a similar appearance may be created by a prominent ligamentum mucosum (infrapatellar plica), but these extend from the apex of Hoffa's fat instead of the medial meniscus.
