Aortic aneurysm with thrombosis

Presentation

The patient is a 70 year old male with chronic HTN and cough.

Age: 70
Gender: Male
Modality: CT

CT angiography shows the ascending and descending aortic aneurysm with some mural lesion and circumferential Mural thrombosis and atherosclerosis.

Case Discussion

Thoracic aortic aneurysms are relatively uncommon compared to abdominal aortic aneurysms. There is a wide range of causes and the ascending aorta is most commonly affected. CTA and MRA are the modalities of choice to image this condition.
