Evidence of point narrowing in the descending thoracic aorta just distal to the origin of the left subclavian artery. This point of narrowing measures approximately 8mm in anteroposterior diameter in sagittal image.
The diameter of the descending thoracic aorta distal to stenotic point measures 32 mm in AP diameter and the proximal aorta measures 19 mm in AP diameter.
Left ventricular hypertrophy is noted.
Left-sided aortic arch with normal branching pattern.
All four pulmonary veins can be seen draining into the left atrium.
The superior vena cava and inferior vena cava can be seen draining into the right atrium.
Aorta can be seen arising from the left ventricle.
The pulmonary trunk can be seen arising from the right ventricle.
Bilateral internal thoracic arteries are prominent in caliber (4 mm in diameter).
Case Discussion
The features are representing adult-type (post ductal type) aortic coarctation with post stenotic dilatation, left ventricular hypertrophy, and prominent bilateral internal thoracic arteries.
