Aortic dissection complicated by posterior circulation ischemic strokes

Extensive aortic dissection beginning in the ascending aorta and extending into the abdominal aorta. Note the origin of the left vertebral from the aortic arch.

Selected axial images demonstrate bilateral hypodensities representing ischemic infarcts. 

Case Discussion

Ischemic stroke is the most common neurologic complication of aortic dissection.
