Presentation

Abdominal pain with rising inflammatory markers and edema right lower limb.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male

Infrarenal aorta is included in the horizontal part of the duodenum without signs of bleeding.

Air in the aortic wall with thrombosis in the right internal iliac artery.

Case Discussion

Aorto-enteric fistulas can be:

  1. Primary: by rupture aorta through aorto-enteric fistula into a closely adherent portion of gastrointestinal tract with bleeding.
  2. Secondary: to complication of vascular prostheses or intestinal diseases.

The most frequent location of aorto-enteric fistula is the third duodenal segment (D3).
