Right foot pain after trauma.

Gender: Female

The apophysis of the proximal 5th metatarsal lies laterally and is oriented longitudinally parallel to the shaft. 

No evidence of fracture is depicted.

Case Discussion

The apophysis at the base of the 5th metatarsal should not be confused with an avulsion fracture.
