Presentation

Pain in the right lower abdomen.

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Male

The appendix is distended with thick wall ending into an encysted collection at right lumbar region, in keeping with acute appendicitis complicated with appendiceal abscess.

An infrarenal saccular abdominal aortic aneurysm is incidentally noted.

Uncomplicated sigmoid diverticulosis.

Left renal cyst.

Case Discussion

CT scan revealed appendicitis complicated with appendiceal abscess. Little did the patient know, he had also an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
