Appendicitis with fecoliths

Presentation

CLL on chemotherapy, presents with fevers, lower abdominal pain and peritonism.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
ct

The appendix is dilated, measuring up to 19 mm in diameter with mild surrounding fat stranding. Several calcified fecoliths within the appendiceal lumen, including one measuring 7 mm at the base of the appendix. 

No focal collection or extraluminal gas. Small locoregional lymph nodes. 

Case Discussion

​The findings are in keeping with acute appendicitis secondary to fecoliths.
