Appendicular abscess with Amyand hernia

Presentation

Right iliac fossa pain of five days duration associated with fever of two days duration.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

Right iliac fossa thick wall tubular structure (white arrow in coronal image) is noted inseparable from the posterior wall of the cecaum directed towards the right inguinal canal with heterogeneous air containing multiloculated thick walled cystic lesion (black arrow in axial image) measuring about "6 x 5 x 4.8 cm" at max AP ,TS & CC dimensions respectively seen surrounding the tip of this tubular structure. Edematous omental fat as well as the tip of the previously described lesion are seen widened the right inguinal canal (red arrow on sagittal image) with edematous changes of the subcutaneous fat along the right groin.
