Presentation

Patient Data

Age: 9 months
Gender: Female
mri
  • Grossly dilated lateral and third ventricles with significant compression of surrounding brain parenchyma, splaying of corpus callosum, bowing of lamina terminalis and dilatation of pineal recess.
  • Loss of aqueductal flow void.
  • Fourth ventricle appears normal.
  • Few extraaxial foci of hemorrhage are seen along right frontal convexity and interhemispheric fissure.
  • Postcontrast study shows no obvious abnormal parenchymal or leptomeningeal enhancement.
  • Cerebellum, brainstem and pituitary gland are unremarkable.

Findings are consistent with aqueductal stenosis.
