Case contributed by Assoc Prof Frank Gaillard

Presentation

Down syndrome

Patient Data

Age: 55
Gender: Male

A large extra-axial CSF density expands the right middle cranial fossa and calvarium, with associated bony remodeling. There is no definite communication with the right lateral ventricle. Appearances are consistent with an arachnoid cyst.

Partial agenesis of the corpus callosum noted, with only the genu and anterior body present.

Case Discussion

This is the sort of case where, if clinically appropriate, an MRI is essential to properly assess for all abnormalities.
